STRENGTH IN MOVEMENT

Very simply Etté Athletica was born because my workout equipment was ugly.

Sludge green weights were not part of a 'look' I was trying to create. I also felt intimidated by them - weights felt like an unknown and inaccessible world to me. 

But I had an issue. 

I was embarking on a health kick and mixing up my workouts. It is not lost on me that I was also about to embark upon a group summer holiday and within said group there was a very handsome man I had just started dating. Let's just say I wanted to feel my best and that lead me to discover workouts with weights which I'll forever be thankful for. 

The mission then became how to tackle the issue that there seemed to be no equipment out there that matched my lifestyle. I got a great feeling slipping on a new pair of gym leggings or lacing up a cool pair of trainers. Why couldn't my equipment give me the same feeling? I wanted to display my equipment proudly not hide it all under my bed. I wanted it to motivate me, not just be a item I tolerated.

 

And so the journey began.

As a side note, I like to think that it was nothing to do with my subsequently toned arms at the time, that the handsome man went on to become my husband.

Feeling strong is such a powerful place to be. My hope is that by creating workout equipment which feels more in line with your life, less intimating and more accessible it will allow you to build that strength. 

 

As a woman your body goes through so many changes during your life. I have found exercise to be a tool that has always helped me approach those situations with strength. Whether it was a mind-clearing HIIT class after a busy day, a gentle yoga session during pregnancy or restorative core exercises post baby. 

I truly believe that by adding weights to your workout you'll feel the benefits of the added resistance in so many ways from increased strength and fitness through to improved bone density. Exercise has always, and will continue to have, such a positive impact on my state of mind and that, I have realised, is priceless.
